Tv's are something that impact people in many ways. You can do a lot with a tv and the cool part is it's at your discretion. In todays day and age you have so much access to different channels and different streaming services. What you have at your exposure in todays world is truly crazy.
I think TV is viewed by some people as a waste of time but it is really just how you determine to use your tv. There is so many different avenues to go down to obtain knowledge. I think there is many ways to be productive while watching tv. I think even having a break from work to watch a show you like or to just relax at night after a long day is a great reset that I think can be good for people. I think people watching documentaries one very successful people or stories can really inspire people and to help them become the best people they can be. Documentaries can push people and help them understand that certain things they thought were impossible which it might actually not be. I have been motived by so many documentaries. The first Conor Mcgregor documentary was one of the coolest documentaries I had ever seen. I probably watched that documentary over ten times. Every time I watched it I felt just as inspired as the first time I had seen it. The way he came from nothing to the top was cool for me to see when I was an athlete because I felt like I could relate to it. It made feel like I could do the things he was doing. I watched a movie based off a true story that was called the Case For Christ. It was one of the most impactful movies I had ever seen. The movie was about an athiest who was a very well respected journalist and he made it his mission to disprove Christianity. On his journey he interviewed many Bible scholars about the topic of Jesus Christ and he did other research on his own. The conclusion he came up with after all his research is that Christ is real and that he died on the cross for our sins. He converted to Christianity and it changed his life forever and also changed many peoples lives all over the world with the impact he has been able to have since he became a Christian. This movie is an example of how TV can be so impactful and can help change lives in an amazing way.
I think there is bad ways to use tv as well. I think people should be careful that even adults shouldn't be watching. There is some things on tv that just shouldn't be seen. I think scary movies are awful and I don't think people realize how bad they are for their minds. It's a common misconception that it's not a big deal to watch scary movies but you can't unsee that stuff. That's why it is so important to be careful with what you take in. The news is good and bad to watch on tv for my opinion. Sometimes the news is too political and hateful. Sometimes it is good to watch the news and know what is going on around the world and our community. The more you know the more you can help in whatever way you can. You just have to be very diligent and be able to decipher what is healthy to watch and unhealthy, The news at times is so negative that at times it might be good to stay away from just because it's not great to just consume negative things all day.
Tv's also give you access to yYutube. Youtube is one of the most impactful services on the planet right now. You can almost teach yourself anything on Youtube. You can learn anything from how to tie a tie, to how to change a tire, to how to perform CPR. Youtube is a great tool to use if you use it right. You can have so much self improvement from Youtube it's actually crazy. Youtube has helped me a lot with hw throughout my high school and college career. I got so much help for my math classes on Youtube it was a big help in me passing my math classes and passing high school. Youtube like anything else is also something that has some bad things on it and you just need to be weary and understand that you need to focus on the good things and not the bad things.
I am a huge fan of football and sports in general. I get to enjoy the things on a tv with my friends and family and memories like that are some of my most fond memories. A good tv show, movie, or sporting event can bring peopler together which is amazing. I can't tell you how many time we had a great get together of family and friends where we got together and watched a game or some sporting event. The Superbowl parties alone have to have a TV. The Superbowl is one of the biggest events in the United States every sing year. One of the nice things about tv's in todays day and age is that they are not that expensive. Considering that it's something you could or might use every day for hours at a time the prices really start to add up more.
Overall TV's impact lives, you can choose how you want it to impact your life, whether that being good or bad. I try and use my tv for knowledge, motivation, and entertainment. I think TV's are one of the most useful technologies you can have in this world and could help you in certain ways.
TV does bring people together and can create great conversations and new relationships. Even if there is bad ways to use tv's I want to focus on the good parts!
I love the communal aspect of watching tv. It can be a low-key bonding opportunity for people to come together (even virtually, like when Netflix parties were popular) and enjoy a shared interest.
Very insightful post. I, myself, love horror, thrillers, and scary movies. I can honestly say it doesn't affect me so I think it depends on the person. Sports is another funny thing because I have family members that aren't fun to be around when they're watching sports so that doesn't bring me good memories at all. If anything I avoid being around them whenever there's sports around.
